Fees, Services & Rebates

Individual Therapy

Sessions are available for children and adults of any age. Individual therapy sessions are conducted primarily in-person, with online consults available when appropriate (note telehealth is available, but not generally recommended for child clients). Sessions typically begin weekly/fortnightly, however this can be adjusted to suit your specific needs.

Duration: 50 minutes

Cost: $310 per session

MHTP rebate (if applicable; see below): $145.25

Supervision

Joe provides supervision of provisional and fully registered psychologists, as well as principal or secondary supervision for the clinical registrar program. He can also provide supervision/case conference for assessment cases looking at fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD)

Duration: 60 minutes

Cost: $297 per session (Incl GST)

Rebates

If you are an individual therapy client, you can check whether you are eligible for a mental health treatment plan (MHTP) by booking a long appointment with your GP. If you are deemed eligible by your GP, a MHTP allows you to subsidise the cost of your psychological therapy services for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. With a treatment plan, you will receive a rebate of $145.25 following each of your 10 Medicare sessions per calendar year. More information is available regarding MHTPs here. If you are not seeking a rebate you do not need a referral to see a clinical psychologist.

If you have Private Health Insurance you may be eligible to receive refunds for psychological services as part of your policy. Please contact your insurance provider to discuss your entitlements and whether this may apply for you. This is particularly important for Telehealth services as not all insurers provide cover for this service.

Cancellation Policy

Painted Porch Psychology is a private practice. We receive no public funding, so our sole source of income is the fees paid per session attended by a client. If a client does not attend an appointment, Painted Porch does not get paid and the practice incurs a loss. In addition to this, clients on the waiting list miss out on potential support.

Due to this, the practice has a strict cancellation policy. If for some reason you need to cancel your appointment please provide at least 24-hours notice, otherwise you will be charged the full cost of the session if the spot cannot be filled. Please note that Medicare or health fund rebates cannot be claimed for missed appointments. If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, please let us know via email with at least 24 hours notice, and we will contact you to organise a replacement session.

Please note telehealth is available if you are ill but still well enough to attend the session remotely.
